My love of music, passion for wildlife, and desire for the church to become involved in conservation inspired the idea of Concerts for Conservation. And because the red wolf, a species found only in North Carolina, is facing severe threats to its existence, it seems the perfect focal species for this event.
Our world is experiencing a 6th mass extinction. But instead of a catastrophic event, this extinction is being caused purely by humankind. It is our moral and spiritual responsibility as Christians to educate people about the plight of so many of God’s creatures and to bring awareness and hopeful solutions to the communities we live in. The church has the chance to step up and be at the forefront of environmental issues. Preventing extinction seems like a good place to start. - Christopher Lile
Concert for Conservation: The Red Wolf will be held on Sunday, March 31, at 4:00 in the Sanctuary at First United Methodist Church of Waynesville. It will feature many of our area vocal and instrumental musicians performing a variety of music.
Come support your fellow musicians for this most worthwhile cause. Admission is free and a love offering will be taken.
