The Music and Arts department at First United Methodist Church offers something for everyone. From the Music Makers program for children to our youth and adult choirs and instrumental groups, you can expect to find a warm welcome and a lively song!
For the musician seeking to lead in worship, we have three worship ensembles: Chancel Choir, Morning Song Vocal Ensemble, and Awakening Band. If weekly participation is not possible for your schedule, you might consider being a part of our instrumental groups (handbells, brass choir) or our Summer Festival Choir - a 100-voice choir that prepares a masterwork performance during the month of July each year.
Community Arts Outreach (CAO) is committed in bringing the best of arts education and performance to the city of Waynesville. We regularly offer classes in painting, photography, culinary arts, and yoga led by expert instructors from local colleges and studios. Additionally, CAO sponsors numerous concerts throughout the year. Recent performers include David Holt and Josh Goforth, the Jasper String Quartet (in partnership with the Swannanoa Chamber Music Festival), and the Carolina Brass. All CAO events are offered free to the public.
