Kara Sither was fortunate enough to grow up in Waynesville and has been a member at FUMC Waynesville since she could crawl. After graduating from Tuscola High School she continued the mountaineer tradition by attending Appalachian State University. She has held a passion for teaching children as far back as she can remember so it was only natural to major in Elementary Education.
While in Boone she also spent much of her time volunteering and working at Boone United Methodist Church. She realized there how much she loved working for the church so after she graduated she accepted a job as the Director of Discipleship at FUMC Waynesville in the fall of 2009. In August of 2011 she became the Director of Children’s Ministries. She added the Communications title a few years ago and loves creating calendars, posters, and print items to spread the word about all the good things happening at FUMC!
During her summers in college Kara worked at a backpacking ministry, Wilderness Trail, to which she still remains an active volunteer. Kara loves all things outdoors, living in the mountains, traveling, podcasts, her dog, Kota, and Kentucky basketball.
We'll send you frequent updates about church news and events.
